Join me on my delicious journey revisiting American home cooking in the era before convenience foods became popular (1919 to 1955), as I bake and cook from old cookbooks and recipe cards of home cooks purchased at estate sales in Akron, Ohio, and other exotic locations.

Cake Batter Ice Cream
I just discovered this last night in my local bodega (only two years after it was introduced). First cookie dough, now cake batter. What's next -- raw pie crust ice cream? Actually, that sounds pretty good.
I only photographed the ice cream -- great customer, eh? A couple of online reviews said it tasted like packaged (not homemade) cake mix, so perhaps that might lend a "lab" flavor note.
Dory loves cake batter ice cream. They have it at Cold Stone. I think it tastes wierd. Like a taste synthesized in a lab. Did you try it?
